Track Schedule

  • We have been lucky enough to be selected by England Athletics to take part in their 'Club Run' initiative - this represents the first of our three sessions (two practical and one theory) and is open to and suitable for all three training groups.

The session will be lead by Nick Anderson - With over 25 years running experience, Nick is a graduate in Science & Management of Health & Fitness, a UKA level 4 endurance coach, a qualified nutritionist and sports therapy practitioner. Nick is currently an England Athletics flying coach & manages GB squads for at events such as the World Half Marathon Championships. Having coached hundreds of athletes from beginners through to olympians Nick is one of Europe's most highly respected coaches. Nick is England Marathon Lead and England Regional Coaching Lead for the South.

Session One - Threshold Work - Nick will explain the theory and reason behind the session, where it fits in training and why. Drills will be included for all and a technique review. The session will be blocks of 5 mins at threshold off a 90 secs jog (likely 5 x 5 mins pending time) - there will be a twist at the end! The essence of this session is that the runner learns to be in the right zone and perceived exertion.Threshold work is a classic session used to build general aerobic fitness which you can then use as a base irrespective of whether you are 5km, 10km, 1/2 marathon or marathon focussed

Both of our planned track sessions are based on time not distance as this means all of our training groups can complete the same set - he uses this method when working with his own athlete groups and on mass training days where individual speeds are varied but the desired outcome is the same.

All three session will be led by Nick - Session Two will be a theory session on Monday 26th November (Venue TBC) and Session Three will be back on the trackon Wednesday 5th December - more details in each event's calendar entry

To summarise - all sessions are inclusive and Nick loves working with big numbers of runners of all abilities. He is really looking forward to coming to support BFR.

Session Three - VO2 Focus - Nick will explain the theory and reason behind the session, where it fits in training and why.. This one will focus on XC, 5km, 10km road theme working energy systems/zones above threshold at a sustained effort level. This will likely be 6 mins at threshold (3 min jog) into 6 x 3 mins at VO2 intensity - please note, this session will vary in length depending on where people are in training cycle - Nick is flexible to people's fitness levels.
