Volunteers Needed!!
Bracknell Forest Runners will once again have the opportunity to show everyone how fantastic they are when a group of volunteers will be running a water station at RideLondon on August 4th 2019.
Arrangements are similar to The London Marathon. The team will depart from the Leisure Centre at 6.30am (sorry no bus for this one, car sharing instead) and head to the village green at Westcott near Dorking to set up the water station ready for an 8.15 am (ish) start. We will be on hand to fill water bottles, offer support and cheer on some 25000 riders. Our work will be done by 2.30 all being well. We then have a window of opportunity of about 40 minutes to return home via a slightly different route, arriving back at the Leisure Centre around 5.00pm. If for any reason the ride is delayed we will not be able to leave until the Elite Riders have passed through, which means an extra couple of hours before we get back.
You will be provided with Lunch, a t shirt, water bottle, drawstring bag and cap - there is no need to bring water with you, there is plenty on site!!
This will be the 7th time we have volunteered and each year so far we have been highly commended by both riders and organisers on the fantastic service we provide.
Chris Vaal is co-ordinating the day and will lead the team. If you are interested in joining him please e mail secretary@bracknell-forest-runners.org.uk so your details can be passed to Chris. Ideally we need a team of 12 - 16 people.
There will be a couple of simple formalities to carry out before the date, but they are similar to London Marathon and include providing Emergency contact details, dietary requirements, t-shirt size and so on.
Please feel free to speak with Chris or any of those that have been before if you have any questions.
